Fixing the Sony Z7 lens / reparation de la lentille d’une Sony Z7

On a shoot, i realize that i can’t control the zoom level by remote.
I was able to switch to manual/remote, feel the motor or not, but nothing happen when i press zoom in or zoom out, both on the camera button or handle!
I had no idea if it was a sender (the camera) or receiver problem (the lens).

Lors d’un tournage, je me suis rendu compte qu’il m’etais impossible de controler le zoom de la camera autrement qu’en manuel. Meme en changeant l’interrupteur de position, rien ne se passait. Je n’avais aucune idee si le probleme venait de la camera ou de la lentille.

I bring back the camera to Sony and they said to me that the lens is dead, a new one is around rmb 7,000 (750 Euros)!
The repair guy did not touch the lens, just plug a new lens, test it, so affirm that i need a new one, without even opening mine!.

I was not prepare to pay for a new one so decide to take back the lens at the office and open it to see how it is, anyway, the lens is dead to them.

I start opening the motor panel as it was for me a dead motor.
And i notice a slight lift under the motor where the switch is. (See the red arrow)

J’ai donc decide d’apporter la camera au centre de reparation de Sony et la reponse a ete simple: la lentille est morte, une nouvelle coute rmb 7,000 (750 Euros)!

Il ne l’a meme pas ouverte, juste echange la lentille, vue que la nouvelle fonctionnait et donc conclu a une panne irreparable…
Comme je n’etais pas prepare a une telle nouvelle, je decide de repartir avec la lentille. Cette panne s’est produite 13 mois apres l’achat, donc plus de garantie, et le lentille fonctionne par ailleurs parfaitement, seul le zoom est en manuel.
Ma curisosite me pousse quand meme a ouvrir le capot moteur, histoire de voir comment ca marche, de toute facon, elle est donnee comme hors service.

Quelle ne fut pas ma surprise de decouvrirque l’interrupteur de control est en fait un circuit imprime colle sur le metal. Ce point de colle ayant bouge, l’interrupteur ne faisait plus contact et donc, le moteur etait toujours en mode manuel! (voir Fleche rouge)

This switch is just glue to the camera body?! and the glue came off, so the switch was always on manual, even if i can move the mecanical position to auto with the motor.

I simply glue it back, wait 8 hours to have the glue dry and put all together….

And it’s working perfectly since then,

I can’t be more concern about the truth from the Sony repair center,
As it’s glue, i can understand it’s happen quite often, my lens was 13 month old.

Thanks Sony Shanghai for your advice, never trust a repair guy … (hope you will fired this guy)

I also have the feeling that other camera lens control switch may have the same problem in other HVR sony line..

Je l’ai donc recole, attendu 8 heures que tout soit bien sec, remonte les 30 vis et utilise ma lentille de la sorte depuis 4 mois sans soucis!

Merci a Sony Shanghai pour son incompetence, je suis certain que ce probleme est arrive plus d’une fois tant ce point de colle est sensible.

Je penses aussi que pas mal de camera Sony sont sur le meme shema, donc HVR Z5, HVR Z7,HVR FX1 ou HVR FZ1 doivent avoir le meme defaut.
